Drugs effecting our society

Gone of the days where three mates dressed in psychedelic clothes, long hair and have dreams of Zeppelin, would sneak down to the back shed with two Playboy magazines and a joint, for a smoke and a laugh.

Drug use has changed a lot since the 1970’s; drug use is very popular within New Zealand. Drugs aren’t just being used but are being abused. I think drug abuse is causing a lot of problems within New Zealand’s society. Alcohol Drug Association New Zealand (18 Nov 2002) states that drugs are: “Any substance that changes mood, feelings or behaviour is considered a drug.” From this definition, we can see that drugs change your mood this can be positive or negative. Drugs generally fall into three groups: depressants, stimulants and hallucinogens.
