Driving

Driving is my serenity and escape. I travel alone, without a destination, merely to observe the world around me and to enjoy the experience. My car slows down approaching the entrance to a park. I take this opportunity to allow my mind to become engulfed with my surroundings: the incandescent blue sky, the children running from one sandbox to another, and the bright fierce sun streaming down illuminating the stunning scenery. The park is filled with individuals who are too preoccupied with their lives, to notice such little things as the squirrels running up and down the trees and people playing fetch with their dogs. The behavior of the people in the park becomes automated. They seem to be apathetic robots, preprogrammed to start at one location and go to another. They pay little attention to details unless it pertains to them.
