The Necklace

Summary

The story The Necklace is about a young lower class woman who tries to

impress others by being someone that she is not. She goes to this upper

class party pretending to be upper class, has a great time but at the

end of the night she loses her friend’s diamond necklace that she

borrowed. So without telling her, the woman replaces the necklace

that cost a fortune and spends the next ten years even poorer trying to

make up for the lost money. The funny part is, she ran into that friend

ten years later and told her what really happened when her friend

gasped and said that the necklace was a fake diamond necklace and

not the real thing.
