Before the Aryan invasion, the Indus Valley Civilization grew, and some of the practices of Hinduism possibly came from that civilization. In about 1500 B.C., the Aryans invaded the Harappan people. Aryan means noble, and the Aryans were a group of nomadic warriors. The Aryans destroyed Harp and Mohenjo-Daro, two cities. Their culture was based on the Vedas, a set of hymns. The Aryans developed a system similar to the caste systems that Hindus use today. The Brahmins were the priests, the Kshatriyas were the soldiers and king warriors, the Vaishyas were the merchants, laborers, farmers, etc., and the Harijahns were the untouchables.
