Quién era don Quijote?
In a certain place in la Mancha (Spain) there used to live a nobleman.
He had in his house a housekeeper who was more than 40 years of age and a niece who was not yet 20.
The age of our nobleman was about 50 years. He was of a strong constitution, lean, thin faced, early riser and a fan of hunting.
He had the name of Quijada or Quisada. On this point there is some difference of opinion among the authors who write about this case. But it matters little to our story.
It should be known that this gentleman, during his free time (which was most of the year), was dedicated to reading books of knight-errantry with such fondness that little by little he began to lose his mind.
As a result, his mind already totally gone, he arrived at the strangest thought in the world.
It occurred to him appropriate and necessary, in order to increase his honor and as a service for his country, to become a knight-errant.
