Domestic Abuse
While domestic abuse effects both males and females I will be looking at it from a females point of view, so I will be using female to discuss abuse victims. In this paper I hope to address the issues of what domestic abuse is, myths about domestic abuse, why the victim stays and safety planning for when the victim leaves.
What is domestic abuse? In order to answer this question you must be willing to step back, open your mind and in some cases change the way you feel about something’s.
There are different types of domestic abuse, as shown in the list below taken from the Domestic Violence Awareness Handbook.
Emotional Abuse
Survivors of domestic abuse recount stories of put-downs, public humiliation, name calling, mind games and manipulation by their partners.
