Dolphin Doctor

Dr. Ridgway, as I have learned, is one of the great pioneers of dolphin physiology. This biography is based on Dr. Ridgway’s first few years working with dolphins and loosely on a dolphin named Tuff Guy, called Tuffy for short.
I am assuming by the large print and the title, that a child in a bookstore would be drawn to this book, not an elderly reader. The very first page of the book includes words, that if you haven’t had much experience on the ocean or with marine mammals, might be foreign to the reader. Having worked with dolphins for many weeks now, these terms were still not natural to me. Some of these words include “dinghy”, “gunnel”, “thwart”, and “ribbing” which I have came to learn are all parts of boats. Without this knowledge, the first section on the book would be difficult to understand.
