Dogma

Many people have criticized Kevin Smith’s film, Dogma, as an insulting mockery of the Catholic Church and the beliefs of its followers. They view the Buddy Christ statue, the conversion of a nun into an atheist, and other such occurrences in the movie as direct attacks on the sanctities of the Church. However, I believe that these critics of the film are taking far too sensitive of an approach to what is meant to be an entertaining and amusing production. Dogma is not an attack on Christianity; it is, however, a declaration against the commonly misunderstood and ritualistic practices of organized religion in general and an assertion that all people should be more grounded in their faith.
