Divine Command Theory

The Divine Command theory is the theory that ethical principles are commands of God. The idea behind the theory is that what is right, or morally right, is so because it is commanded by God and what is wrong, or morally wrong, is wrong because it is forbidden by God. The theory shows how ethics are solely based on what God has commanded and what God says is right and not a matter of personal feelings or what one feels is right or wrong. There are major problems with the theory. For instance, Atheists do not accept the theory, as they do not believe in God. Another problem with the theory leads us to a dilemma known as the Euthyphro Argument.
