Differences in Education between Countries

There are mainly two education concepts, the Banking concept and the Problem-posing concept. According to Paulo Freire, one of the most influential thinkers about education in the late twentieth century, banking education treats students as objects of assistance inhabitants of creativity, and domesticates the intentions of consciousness by isolating consciousness from the world (268). On the other hand, Problem-posing concept is the one, which lets people develop their power to perceive critically the way they exist in the world with which they find themselves (266). Problem-posing concept is mostly present in US colleges where as banking system is pre-dominant in most of the colleges in the Fiji Islands.
The Banking concept of education is mainly key educational system that is used in the Fiji Islands. Though there may be some positive aspects such as better memorizing capability or respect and submission to the teachers, the disadvantages of this system clearly outweighs its benef...
