In the United States, diet fads seem to pile up on each other, growing off each other much like the regeneration of cancer cells. I think it has gotten to the point where your not jumping on a bandwagon anymore, because a bandwagon just isn’t big enough to hold the never-ending list of diet fads. Most of these fads are fueled by half truths and sometimes even blatant lies. Some 40% of all weight loss advertisements have been proven of some sort of misrepresentation. Not to mention the other 55% that most likely were fueled by the same misrepresentations. The lay the stage with promises and healthy skepticism.

The Too Good To be True

The Federal Trade Commition says, “Look out for advertisements boasting before and after photos, claiming no diet or exercise is needed, and statements such as clinically or doctor proven results.” Some more things to look out for include accusations of “Natural and Safe” methods of weight...
