Developmental Stages

For this part of the assignment I have chosen to base my task on Erikson’s Latency Stage. This stage includes children between 6 and 12 years old. The age I will be focusing on is age 9 in grade four. At this stage school is an important event. My activity is one that can be used as an art lesson in the classroom. The child needs to expand his/her understanding of the world and learn the basic skills required for school success. Basic task is to achieve a sense of industry, which refers to setting and getting personal goals. At this stage the student tries to develop a sense of self-worth by refining skills. The child takes pride in himself/herself for being able to accomplish the tasks normally expected of elementary school children. This activity will guarantee a sense of industry and self -worth.
