Desperation

Fatigue. Exhaustion. Desperation. My body is

yearning for some water. My body needs water. My

mind is thirsting for water. Why would anyone play

such a cruel trick on you? I am surrounded by

water, yet I cannot drink it. I am so tempted to

drink of this water. I take a small sip. I cringe

at this salty, bitter taste that is left on my

tongue. That moment of weakness has left me off

even worse than I was at the beginning of the race.

All I want, all I need is some water. Can I

even bare to go on without water. My legs, my arms,

my body is aching. It’s craving water, that

quenching, refreshing, energizing liquid. Just one

sip, just one drop of this colorless liquid is all

that I need. How can I go on if I can hardly feel

my legs, if I can hardly bare to think. The only

thing on my mind is when will I be able to get that

thirst-quenching sip of water. Wat...
