Decisions Decisions

The attacks of September 11, 2001 opened the eyes of the United States to further issues involving the Middle East. The majority of these conflicts are economic issues, such as oil. Oil is obviously used day after day to fuel cars and such, but the problem is where does the oil come from? Most of the oil we receive comes from Canada and other countries. We only import 1.7 million barrels of oil a day from the Middle Eastern country of Saudi Arabia, 1.8 million from Canada, 1.6 million from Venezuela, 1.3 million from Mexico and still more from other countries. Out of all the oil imports the U.S. receives, 28% is from the Middle East. The next problem is that out of all of the oil in the world, 66.5% of it is in the Middle East. America could live without Saudi’s oil, but stopping those imports would only cause more of a problem. From a capitalistic view, thousands of American dollars goes to the Middle East for this oil.
