The Death of My Father
I followed the ambulance down, and out of my driveway. Inside was my Dad, and in my mind I was thinking, would this be the last time I followed him to the hospital
As I entered the hospital it was cold and deathly quiet. Then it became very busy, for apparently there had been a car wreck involving several cars and a truck. There were people being wheeled in on gurneys, one right after another, and the injuries were really bad. There was blood everywhere, and on everyone. The smell, it was almost unbearable. A smell like I had never smelled before.
I kept thinking about my father and how he was doing. With all these people here hurt, would he get the attention he needed? Was I being selfish, after all these people also had family members here who were hurt. They would be worrying about them, just as I was worried about my dad. Yet this was my father, the man who raised me, and I had a right to be selfish. I wanted the best for him, and ...
