Death of a Salesman

Willy Loman is suicidal for many reason. Two such reasons are one, Willy is perpetually at odds with his son Biff, and two, his health is deteriorating.
Biff and his father are conflicting characters because Biff cannot live up to the expectations that his father has set for him. Biff has proven to be somewhat lazy because of his inability to keep a job for a long period of time. He also, at the age of thirty-four, is still living at home with his brother in the same bunk beds that they slept in when they were children. Biff has not yet grown past the mental development stage of adolescents described by the well-known psychologist Erik Erikson. Biff continues to be the immature child that he was in his teenage years, and you can be sure it is not a respectable quality to have at the age of thirty-four.
