Dear Grandfather

Dear Grandfather, December 22, 1880


We finally arrived, mother father and I. we all miss you grandmother and china so much. How is everything, we are all fine . . . We got off Angel Island three days ago and now we are at our new home. Its not the greatest especially compared to our home with you and grandmother in China, but I have to say that anything is better than the ship ride here, to America. It was so horrible. It was stinky and dirty and so crowded. Remember the night that you dropped us off at the dock and how many people was there well multiply that by like 100. They were such a long line to the ship and that was only the begging of our line standing. We did not get on the ship until around two in the morning. We went through inspections and they asked mother and father questions about our old life and what we hope to get out of our new life.
