Task 1

Networks use encoding to make sure the information on the network is safe, here are two: -

TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) which cuts a small chunk off each data stream and sends the chunks one by one, then the computer at the other end puts it all together again.

Amplitude encoding is where both ends of the data stream decide on amplitude to send their information.

Multi-carrier modulation (MCM) is a method of transmitting data by splitting it into several components, and sending each of these components on separate carrier signals. The individual carriers have narrow bandwidth, but the composite signal can have a large bandwidth.

Task 2

Infra-Red – This medium uses infra-red pulses to communicate. The disadvantage is that the receiver and transmitter have to be perfectly aligned with no obstructions, which is unpractical with busy offices.
