Dark Skin versus Light Skin

If you were light-skinned you could work in the house with the master. If you were dark-skinned you had to work in the field. Skin color issues have plagued us throughout the generations. There is an old saying that positive character traits are associated with light skin, while negative traits are connected to darker skin color. Has the situation changed?
