Damaging Impact of Alcohol

Driving a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol is one of the most dangerous decisions a person can make. If you drink and drive, you are not only a danger to yourself but to everyone around you. Drunk driving is the nation’s most frequently committed violet crime and preliminary research for 2000 shows that alcohol-related crashes cost the public an estimated $114.7 billion annually - this includes an estimated 63.9 billion being lost in quality of life due to these crashes. Preliminary traffic death statistics released by the Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) show virtually no change in the number of alcohol-related traffic fatalities from the year 2000.
