CDs get smaller

Imagine taking a penny out of your pocket and knowing that a compact disc that size can store tons of data. How can this be so? Well The Princeton University electrical engineer, Stephen Chou created a compact disc that can concentrate information 800 times more effectively than the current CDs used today in the market. The current CDs may seem as primitive as reel-to-reel tapes to Steven Chou. His newly invented penny size data storage device may very well lead to future computers on your wrist. This ¾ inch diameter compact disc could fit as much as five hours of movies in it!

Chou’s CDs are created through a process called nanoimprint lithography. This is a different process than how current CDs are fabricated, which are done by injecting a liquid polymer against a mold that has data coating bumps ...
