Apartheid

Question: Is apartheid a good idea?

In Cry, the Beloved Country, by Alan Paton, apartheid is shown as the separation of blacks and whites, causing prejudice and ignorance between the two groups. ”They talked of young criminal children, and older more dangerous criminals, of how white Johannesburg was afraid of black crime (pg. 22). In this passage the priests talk of what is happening around them, of the way a prejudiced minority suppresses an ignorant majority in South Africa. No good can come out of it; in fact it can only bring social and economic disaster. The effect on people who practice apartheid, and the irony of how people under it are treated; the corruption of those in control, and the overall effects on their society, are all important factors to use discrediting apartheid.
