The movie “Cry Freedom” is one about apartheid in South Africa. The main characters in the movie are Denzel Washington (Stephen Biko), and Kevin Cline (Donald Woods). This movie is based on a true story. Stephen Biko is a black leader who works to make things better for the blacks. Donald Woods is an editor for the local newspaper. Biko teaches Woods the lives of the black people. Woods understands the struggles of the blacks, and tries to help spread Biko’s message after he dies. This movie deals with the struggles of the blacks trying to break away from the control of the whites.
Donald Woods publishes an edition of a police attack in an illegal black township in Cape Town, which produced an explosive reaction all over the country.
