Crucible

Crucible is a severe test or trial. This relates to the witch trials that went on in 1692 in Salem, Massachusetts. Abigail Williams changed herself from a witch to becoming a victim of witchcraft. John Proctor stood good to his name even after his death of being an accused wizard. Reverend Hale of Beverly was in pursuit to find a witch in Salem when he arrived. By the end of the story, he was on the side of the accused witches.
Abigail Williams was the one who began all this talk about witchcraft. She started this after her uncle, Reverend Parris, discovered her and other girls dancing in the woods. She is a liar throughout the story and gets what she wants. The funny thing is that everyone believes she is telling the truth. Throughout the story she had lied about people being witches and seeing them with the devil. The court even made some of the people she accused of being with the devil hang for not pleading guilty of witchcraft. When she mentions Elizabeth Proctorâ...
