Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is more than a movie about a girl who steals a sword and two others quest to get it back. This movie takes viewers through a maze of subtext and delivers strong messages about gender roles and society as a whole.
Li Mu Bai, is a legend warrior and having recently defeated all his enemies he decides to retire and give his famous sword, The Green Destiny to his old friend Sir Te. Li Mu Bai, along with his friend and fellow warrior Shu Lein go to Beijing to deliver this fine sword. However, the sword is stolen by a mysterious burglar. We soon learn that the person who stole the sword is actually Jen, the young daughter of Sir Te and also has these warrior abilities including the ability to fly.
