Critiquing Critical Thinking

When we think of perception, assumptions, and inferences we think of them being

closely related. This maybe accurate to some degree, however we will talk about how unalike

they are. The differences are based on systematic thought and analysis of elements one has

accumulated over time. One might say that assumptions and perception are the byproduct of

tunnel thinking. Thinking in this dimension requires an understanding of what

exactly it is we are trying to understand or interpret. Normally, we assume someone is a

certain way by how they appear, dress, speak, or carry themselves. Sometimes we speculate

and overlook the qualities or potential one may have before the opportunity is available for them

to appeal to us.

We formulate opinions and perceptions merely by judging the exterior, and without

knowing and understanding detailed parts of information that are present. In our minds, the
