Critique of Fifteen Poems by CatullusNorton Anthology 7th Editionpp. 808-813

I.
The author of the fifteen poems is Catullus, he wrote all of his poems in lyrical format, and the original language of the poems is Latin.
a. In this poem Catullus falls in love with Lesbia and wants her to be in love with him.
b. This poem is about the pet of his beloveds, a sparrow. His beloved seems to go to the sparrow anytime in distress, or anytime she wants to play with him. And he wishes he could do the same.
c. Catullus is sick and feels that death is coming for him. He is sick and can’t find the words to say to Lesbia about what is happening to him. On his deathbed he can feel himself getting sicker, and Lesbia disgraces him by saying he is leisure and lazy.
d. In this poem Catullus describes his intense love for Lesbia and feels that no one else will share that bond with her except him.
e. He wishes for her to marry him but he is unsure that she will stay true to him. He wants to spend his life with her in “holy friendship.”
