Creon

Was there a time where you had to give up some of your pride? In society, many refuse to admit they are wrong, even if they know it. Sometimes doing this might have little harm on others, but it also has the ability to send someone to death. An example of an individual who keeps his pride very closely is Creon in Sophocles, Antigone in ¡§The Oedipus Rex¡¨. Although everyone get respect and power from pride, sometimes giving up some of the pride gives more respect and power to the individual.

In Antigone, Creon is the newly crown king, had the power to rule over Thebes. The state has just won a battle, Creon decides to not bury a soldier because he had betrayed the state. Ironically, this soldier is his own nephew. Creon believes that he has done right and makes this action of his a law that everyone will follow.
