Dear Vernon,

Ronald is just fine. He is doing very well in school. He has not learned any words that we can understand. Sometimes he makes sounds that resemble words like cat and “the”. His teacher says that he is trying hard but cannot seem to learn these words.

We are very sad to here about Maxine’s drinking and getting arrested. We hope she gets better at not drinking. Ronald was very excited when he heard your letter. He smiled and clapped his hands. We hope to here from you again and so does Ronald.
