Counselling

Counselling has become necessary in today’s society for several reasons including unemployment, redundancy, bereavement etc. and due to lesser involvement from the family and church the central government has had to set up and fund the social care system. It is a legal responsibility of the local government to provide an immense range of social services within their area. The local authority can provide these services or alternatively private firms that are monitored by the local authority departments can run them.

The aim of counselling is to assist people with problems and to help them understand their problems and discover any possible solutions. People requiring counselling services come from all walks of life and include, children, adolescents, adults, able bodied or disabled. The counsellor assists the client in learning how to cope, make changes and enjoy their life. The level of “empathy” that can be built up between the client and counsellor leads the way to go...
