Today we know that corporations are major influences on our lives. For example, based on Gross Domestic Products alone, when looking at the one hundred largest economies in the world, fifty-one are corporations while only forty-nine are countries. In this era of "globalization", we as marginalized people are becoming especially angry at the motives of multinational corporations, and with this anger we tend to harbor resistance and protest.
Corporations originally became functional and powerful due to one main advantage; unlike that of individual investment where debts are passed onto descendants, a corporation charter was limited in risks to that initially invested. As corporations become more powerful, their ability to be engines promoting positive change decreases and the ill effects begin to set in.
