If there ever was a novel written that instilled a sense of fear in some of its readers it is George Orwell’s classic novel, 1984, “The mood it expresses is that of near despair about the future of man, and the warning is that unless the course of history changes, men all over the world will lose their most human qualities, will become soulless automations, and will not even be aware of it.” Written in 1949, Orwell uses his knowledge of the world’s present state and its historical past to warn that communism could only be a step away if society is not careful. “Throughout recorded time, and probably since the end of the Neolithic Age, there have been three kinds of people in the world, the High, the Middle, and the Low,” and George Orwell proves this fact in his classic novel, 1984.
