Dear Ms. Denicola:

The Chicano Awareness Center (CAC) works primarily with Latinos in metropolitan Omaha, and is often the first point of contact for individuals and organizations wanting entry into the community. For 30 years the CAC has offered programs in drug abuse prevention, intervention and outpatient treatment; cultural transition and human services referrals; teen pregnancy outreach and education; gang prevention/intervention; and an education/career counseling component for high school students. The CAC provided education, referrals and treatment to over 5,000 individuals in 2001.

Like the Foundation for Educational Funding, the CAC believes that parents want their children to have a complete education, regardless of their resources, capacities or cultural background. Community programs like the Parent School Partnership...
