Consider the Poets Views of War in the Poems Which you have Studied.

The first thing that will influence the reader is the title. “For the Fallen” makes me feel that the poem will be paying respect to the soldiers as I take the word “fallen” as meaning the soldiers descending to the ground on the battlefield. It makes me feel like the poem has been written for them rather than about them so it has greater depth. “Suicide in the Trenches” obviously is going to portray a bad view of the war as it means in other words that soldiers are killing themselves whilst in the trenches. I think this title is quite captivitive, as it seems like a headline you would see in the newspapers and it doesn’t give away any details of why there was a suicide, which encourages you to read on. “Dulce et Decorum Est”, the meaning of this poems full title is “Is it sweet and fitting to die for one’s country”. I feel making a statement is a good way of catching the readers attention. T...
