Conflict management

When a team is attempting to confront conflicts, it is a good idea to have a plan of
action. Without a solid plan of conflict resolution, a team will have a difficult time navigating the problems that may occur. Johnson & Johnson state that, “When parties in conflict agree that conflict resolution is needed, they are more likely to succeed if they move through prescribed phases to reach resolution. According to (Johnson and Johnson, 1994) There are seven phases to conflict management. They include: Collect data, probe, save face, discover common interests, reinforce, negotiate, and solidifying adjustments. Along with these phases, there are strategies for coping with conflicts within the team environment.
Avoidance can be used as a tactic to manage some types of conflict. According to “Tools for Teams,” avoidance can be used when, the stakes are not that high, and you don’t have anything to lose, you don’t have time to deal with it,...
