Conflict: A Literal Contrast

In Literature, authors have the ability to convey very meaningful messages through certain moods and with the use of literary elements. In Macbeth, a Shakespearean play, anger, fear, and cruelty seemed to have been evident in the hearts of many characters. The reader can immediately feel the tension and the anxiety of the characters in the beginning. As for the short story, “One Autumn Night, “ by Maxim Gorky, the mood portrayed was more thankful and glad to have life- rather than dreary, hateful and sorrowful. The contrast of the two works is as follows; the author’s intentional mood in Macbeth for the soliloquy in Act V, scene five in the play was contrition, bitterness and malevolence. It showed deepness, a sorrowful outlook on human existence. In the short story the author portrayed through their characters’ moods, a more uplifting mood, and a more valuable outlook on life.
