Computer Related Terms

• Desktop- objects (icons) that include My Computer, My Documents, Recycle Bin, etc. Desktops can differ in ways by visual appearance and in the way icons work.
• Multitasking-ability to run several programs at the same time.
• Title bar-appears at the top of each window and displays the name of the window.
• Min, Max and Restore buttons-Minimize button shrinks the window to a button on the taskbar, leaves it in memory. Maximize displays the window to cover the entire desktop. Restore displays instead of the maximize button after a window has been maximized, restores window to its previous size.
• Status bar- displays information about the window as a whole or about a selected object within a window.
• Common User Interface-where all Windows applications share and possess a sense of similarity from one application to another.
