The Directorate of Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) is restructuring to respond to new opportunities at the computing frontier. Four new CISE divisions will represent a natural progression from core foundations (Computer and Communication Foundations, CCF) through systems (Computer and Network Systems, CNS) through research and education in the context of complex information and intelligent systems (vInformation and Intelligent Systems, IIS) to the deployment of computing-communications-information infrastructure in support of all science and engineering (Shared Cyberinfrastructure, SCI). These divisions will be highly collaborative and interactive, providing programmatic and budgetary flexibility to address computing opportunities that cross division boundaries.
