Comparison Contrast Paper

In Studs Terkel’s “From Working”, he speaks of two professionals of very dissimilar occupations. Terry Mason, a stewardess; and Carl Murray Bates, a stonemason; are the focus of his interviews. Although their fields of work are very different, the points they make about their jobs are somewhat comparable. Each speaks of their career in the field and how the work has changed over the years.
Terry Mason, an airline stewardess, starts off telling how glamorous the occupation seemed to be when she first started. She soon found out how this was not the case after a couple months when it became not so glamorous. Terry speaks of how a woman must be good looking and have a first-rate personality just to be considered for the job.
