Comparison/Contrast of Greasy Lake

Greasy Lake
The nature described in the beginning of Greasy Lake, and the nature described at the end contrasts the ignorance that the protagonist had held with regards to being bad. These two instances give the character more depth, making him a round character. They highlight the change, the awareness that the protagonist now has, that he didn’t have in the beginning of the story.
The protagonist had this ideal surrounding himself and greasy lake, the idea that he was bad and that’s where you go to be bad. What actually happened at the lake was a dose of harsh reality. The events that transpired were somewhat of a learning experience. The protagonist was able, by the end of the story, to draw on the experiences and balance his youthful ideals with reality. Greasy Lake seems to serve as an outlet for the young suburbanite’s bad behavior. When all else fails head up to the lake, were there’s sure to be some action. The protagonis...
