Compare/Contrast Industry and Agriculture

In the 1800’s there was a tremendous shift in America’s idea of what industry really was. Prior to the growth of industrial business, there was a predominant work force of farmers and other agriculturally focused business. With the invention of the railroad and other extremely useful tools, the focus of what America thought industry should be began to waiver. Now the focus was on natural resources and the increase of machinery.
Colonial America was very limited when it came to industry. Many factors contributed to this. There wasn’t much money in the economy to be spent on business. The country was still very young and was focusing on the base from which it would grow in the years to come. There were not many workers to put in factories or start companies with.
