U.S. Navy

Paragraph 1: Situation. The navy was created in 1775. In November 28, the continental congress authorized the establishment of the American Navy. The navy was only to play a major role in the war; the success of American privateers in interrupting British trade was an important factor aiding the patriot.
The secretary of the navy is Honorable Gordon R. England. Mr. England was nominated on 24 April 2001 by George W. Bush to serve as the 72nd Secretary of Navy, and was sworn in on 24 May 2001. The senior admiral of the navy is Admiral Vern Clark. Admiral Clark is the Chief of Naval Operations. Admiral Clark is responsible to the Secretary of the Navy for the command, of resources and operating efficiency of the operating forces of the navy and the navy shore activities.
Paragraph 2: Mission. The navy’s primary mission is to protect its home shores.
