Community and the Internet

First of all, what is a community? A community is a shared commitment and an agreement of shared sanctions and rewards. The word “community” is used very often, but I don’t know if everyone, knows what it means and that there are not only advantages. Often they don’t know, which danger can be behind that. So they only see the fun and the doing of something together. Nearly each of us is member of a community (e.g. sport, school, video games, or anything similar). Furthermore we have to decide, what makes us a member of an online or a real community. Normally it is possible, that anyone joins in a real community if he or she has the same interests, which the community looks after. It seems that it will become easier and easier to do everything we usually do in everyday world, on the Internet, like taking Internet courses or having conversations online.
