Commitment Levels
The level of commitment in a team will determine the success or failure of the team. Being committed means going, the extra mile for the team and giving maxim participation. I believe to show commitment to a team, the team must have a team charter, must communicate with each other, and have discipline.
To have an effective team, the team should build an effective charter. Craig Swenson (2003) Chartering is the process by which the team is formed, its mission or task described, its goals set, its membership committed, and its plans made (p70). The charter is like a legal agreement between team members. With this agreement it will show each members commitment level. Questions should be listed to have an effective charter. Some question that should be listed are what is the purpose of the team, will the team be manager led or self-managed, what are the team goals, what are the boundaries, how will we secure equal commitment, how will we plan for confli...
