Comapring novels on predjudice “To Kill A Mockingbird”, “The Power Of One” and “No Fat Chicks” are all the same if you look deep enough, they all have a base of prejudice against the accepted few. These books all have narrators of the around the same age, between 6-18 years old and are all books of discovering what and who they are and the society they live in. “To Kill a Mockingbird” is narrated by Scout; she is a six year old at the start of the book and the book is her story of the society of Maycomb County and the role of prejudice in the Tom Robinson rape case. To Kill a Mockingbird portrays prejudice in its worst and most common form, racial prejudice. This type of prejudice comes into play in Tom Robinson, a Negro accused of raping a white girl, Mayella Violet Ewell. The Ewells were the lowest family in Maycomb society. But Mayella was white and Tom was black: no matter how trashy the girl might be, her honour had to be upheld against a Negro. What angered many of the townspeople most was ...
