Columbus

From the readings, I would have to say that one part of me would say that Columbus did discover America. His discovery, to me, wasn’t based on a visual effect but it was based on the fact that Christopher Columbus allowed the opportunity for logical developments, situations, and circumstances to occur which has contributed to who we are today.

Through out my school years in learning about Christopher Columbus, I was never certain if he indeed discovered America and it seemed to be a bit unrealistic to think that one man could discover America all by himself. I always thought the Vikings discovered America. As I started to compile my thoughts for this discussion, I wondered why did my last employer designate Columbus Day as a “floating” holiday and not a regular holiday like Thanksgiving and Christmas.
