Coke vs. Diet Coke – Which is More Dense?




























Abstract

This lab has several goals in mind. The main goal of this lab is to determine the

densities of both Coke and Diet Coke. Naturally, we believe that Coke will be more

dense than Diet Coke because it is has a higher sugar content than Diet Coke, which uses

an artificial sweetener as a replacement for sugar.

Another focus of this lab is to just get used to the different pieces of glassware.

We will be using them a lot this year, so it is good to get used to them now to learn what

they are good and sometimes bad for.

The lab is also going to teach us how to calculate the standard deviation for a

series of data. This will be a valuable tool for future labs as well since

standard deviation is a common statistical device used to analyze data’s precision.
