Cloud of Sparrows

My favorite character in this novel was Daimyo Genji Okumichi. He differs greatly from the other daimyo and men in the book. He seems always filled with serenity no matter what the situation. He’s also very compassionate to everyone around him, putting other before himself, while other lords would have thought about themselves.
Genji shows his selflessness when he resolves all debt Hide, one of his most trusted samurai, had accumulated. He also forgave Heiko, when she confessed to being a ninja working for the shogun secret police and that she was ordered to kill him. All Genji said was that she didn’t kill him so what was there to be sorry about.
