Clothing regarded as uniform in "one day in the life of Ivan Denisovich" and A Doll's House"

In Ibsen’s A Doll’s House and One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Alexander Solzhenitsyn, clothing appears to play an important role in enhancing characterization. In One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich the labour camp community as a whole have the same dress code, all the characters have a set uniform. Which in turn creates an organized atmosphere. Ibsen’s A Doll’s House views clothing as a part of ones social status, and as a result conforms to the requirements of their hierarchies. Ibsen uses clothing as temptation in a sexual manner and also as a tool for confinement. Clothing in these two texts can be regarded as uniforms, one in reality (One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich), and the other as an effect of social criterion (A Doll’s House).
