Tropical wet monsoon
These with their dry seasons, have much in common with the Aw climates. Winter temperatures are usually very warm, but vary with location. Temperatures rise to a maximum just before the ¡¥burst¡¦ of the monsoon, but fall some what during the cloudy, muggy, wet period, despite the higher altitude of the noonday sun.
During summer, windward slopes receive an exceptionally large rainfall from inflows of mT air, while leeward areas are usually much drier. In a classification related to the precipitation effectiveness for plant growth, much of the Indian peninsula to the lee of the abrupt plateau edge of the Western Ghats has characteristics of an Aw or Bsh climate.
